The middle school Bible curriculum focuses on deepening the student’s understanding of the Christian faith and its application in their lives.
Memory Work
Weekly memory exercises support Bible study:
- Books of the Bible.
- Verses that align with the school’s theme.
- Key passages supporting the key teachings of the Christian Faith.
- Citations and Bible verses outlined in Luther’s Small Catechism.
English Language Arts
At this level, students dive into spelling rules, origins, and meanings of suffixes, prefixes, and Latin/Greek roots. Vocabulary pulls from high school SAT lists, focusing on pattern recognition, word formation, and usage. Students graduate from middle school confident and ready for the most rigorous high school programs.
English skills are developed through:
- Grammar (nouns, verbs, punctuation, etc.)
- Sentence fluency and expansion
- Spelling/vocabulary (word families, classical roots)
- Writing (essays, biographical research papers, MLA format)
- Speaking (demonstration speeches)
- Revising, editing, and proofreading
Literature
Students read historical fiction and anthologies to:
- Expand vocabulary (figurative and connotative)
- Analyze conflicts, plot, characters, and themes
- Compare texts and write thesis statements
- Participate in oral presentations and creative writing projects
- Meet Accelerated Reading goals
Math
History/Social Studies
Christ Lutheran’s middle school history curriculum integrates a Christ-centered worldview with rigorous academic study to prepare students for high school success. Through engaging lessons, primary sources, and thoughtful discussions, students develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills while exploring history with discernment and purpose. The program emphasizes critical thinking, clear communication, and Biblical perspective—equipping students to understand the past, engage ideas thoughtfully, and confidently transition to advanced high school coursework.
Science
Spanish
Online Spanish lessons focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking, including:
- Vocabulary: greetings, classroom items, colors, weather, family, and time
- Grammar: adjectives, articles, punctuation, verb conjugation, and subject agreement
Music
Our Middle School choir offers students the chance to explore proper vocal technique, harmonization and performance skills. Students also learn musical theory and how to read music. During the Christmas season, our students are featured in an advent program that also includes speaking roles.
Physical Education
Students change into PE uniforms three times per week for activities like:
- Strength training, stretching, and running
- Sports basics: basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball
- Presidential fitness training for yearly evaluation & certification
Technology
Students learn safe technology use and Microsoft Office basics, including:
- Typing practice & Coding
- Google Drive, Google Docs, and spreadsheets
- Digital creative projects
Electives
Students have the opportunity to take a variety of electives including yoga, speech & debate, graphic design and children’s story book writing. Our big buddy little buddy program allows older middle school students to develop leadership skills by reading with our younger students.
