What is scrip?
Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money”. Scrip comes in the form of gift cards and gift certificates. These are the same gift cards and certificates that you would purchase in the stores where you shop.
What retailers participate in the scrip program?
There are hundreds of local and national retailers to choose from including grocery stores, gas stations, clothing stores, entertainment, travel and many others.
How does this help Christ Lutheran School?
Participating retailers agree to sell these gift cards and certificates to our school at a discount. Christ Lutheran families like yours buy the gift cards for full face value, redeem them for full face value, and Christ Lutheran School keeps the difference as revenue.
How will this work for my family?
By purchasing scrip you are putting your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for Christ Lutheran School without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program. Scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline, and even dining out.
When is your 2026 – 2027 scrip fee due?
Your 2026 – 2027 scrip fee is due on or before August 24, 2026. The great news is that you will have a chance to earn this “scrip fee” back by earning profits through the purchase of scrip. All purchases made between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 20267 will be applied towards your 2027 – 2028 scrip fee.
Why do I need to fill out an Enrollment Form?
A new enrollment form must be completed for the 2026 – 2027 school year because we use this information for your scrip purchase profile. This form also serves as your agreement to pay your Scrip Fee and any appropriate fees related to non-sufficient fund charges.
Who can purchase scrip?
Your orders can include not only your personal purchases, but those of your family, friends, and co-workers. By getting other people involved in scrip, it will help you to reach your goal of $400.00* that much quicker. After you have reached your goal, your continued participation is extremely important to our school. Scrip is a powerful fundraising alternative that involves NO SELLING, and Christ Lutheran School receives a regular source of revenue.
* Please note that the $400.00 goal does not mean that you have to purchase $400.00 worth of scrip. It means that you have to purchase enough scrip to earn the school $400.00 in profit. If you were purchasing scrip with an average 5% discount, you would have to purchase around $8,000.00 worth of scrip.
How do I purchase scrip?
We stock the most popular scrip cards in-house. In-house inventory can be purchased any day, during regular school hours – either from the Scrip office (mornings) or the main office. Special scrip orders must be turned in by noon on Friday of each week. The completed order will be ready for pick up no later than the following Wednesday. Scrip is ordered weekly, so if you miss the Friday deadline, you will have to wait for the next week’s delivery.
Can you give me an example of a scrip purchase and its profit?
The Jones family makes the following household purchases for the month of August:
| Retailer | Denomination | Discount | Quantity | Total | Profit |
| Vons | $100.00 | 4% | 5 | $500.00 | $20.00 |
| The Gap | $25.00 | 9% | 4 | $100.00 | $9.00 |
| T.J. Maxx | $25.00 | 7% | 4 | $100.00 | $7.00 |
| Chili’s | $20.00 | 11% | 3 | $60.00 | $6.60 |
| Starbucks | $25.00 | 7% | 4 | $100.00 | $7.00 |
| Regal Ent. | $25.00 | 8% | 2 | $50.00 | $4.00 |
| Total | $53.60 |
In one month, the Jones family has just earned $53.60 towards their “scrip fee” credit which will be applied to their 2026– 2027 scrip fee.
What will happen to my “scrip fee credit” if my child is in the 8th grade and I don’t have any younger children? With your authorization, any credit you earn will be applied to your child’s Washington D.C. trip. In this case only, you can exceed the $400.00 limit. If you earn $700.00, that amount will be applied to your child’s trip. Please note that you will receive no credit at the end of the year if you choose this option.
How do I keep track of how much profit I have earned? You will receive a bi-annual statement by mail from the Christ Lutheran Scrip Coordinator.
Christ Lutheran School Scrip Coordinator’s Note You might be thinking that this program is going to be a hassle for your family. It definitely is not! With a little organization you will find that the program is not difficult at all. Money that your family spends every day in the form of cash, debit cards, or personal checks, can now be spent in the form of scrip. IT COSTS YOU NOTHING EXTRA, and helps provide Christ Lutheran School with a regular source of revenue that your children will benefit from
SCRIP EARNING OPPORTUNITY
RAISERIGHT (SCRIP) FEE CREDIT
The RaiseRight (scrip) Fee is a non-refundable fee paid directly to Christ Lutheran or paid to CLS via Blackbaud. RaiseRight is Christ Lutheran’s gift card fundraising platform (aka scrip), where everyday purchases enrollees make earn proceeds that empower you to offset school fees during the next school year. More information is available at www.christrpv.com. Profits from using RaiseRight (via app, website, or physical gift cards purchased at CLCS) will be applied to your account when earned by you, your family, or friends that specify you as the recipient of the profit. For a returning student, the RaiseRight profit will become a Fee Credit for the following year, reducing the amount of the RaiseRight (scrip) Fee and reducing up to $600 of tuition. For a graduating student, the Fee Credit may be used to reduce the cost of the 8th grade field trip.
Example 1 – A family paid the $400 RaiseRight Fee, and purchases gift cards via RaiseRight throughout the year earning a profit of $350, which is recorded in their RaiseRight account. This results in a Fee Credit of $350, so that their RaiseRight Fee due for the next school year will be reduced by $350.
Example 2 – A family paid the $400 RaiseRight Fee, and purchases via RaiseRight throughout the year earn a profit of $625, which is recorded in their RaiseRight account. This results in a Fee Credit of $625, so that their RaiseRight Fee due for the next school year is eliminated (that is, reduced by $400) and their tuition due for the next school year is reduced by $225.
Example 3 – A family paid the $400 RaiseRight Fee. This family does not enroll in RaiseRight and chooses not to purchase any scrip during the school year. No Fee Credit is earned.
If you are not a Christ Lutheran School family, please indicate the name of the student or family that you would like your Scrip purchases to be credited to:
You must sign a WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY form before scrip will be mailed to you or released to your child. These forms will be kept on file, and Christ Lutheran School accepts no responsibility for scrip delivered in this manner.
