THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the true inspired Word of God, without error or contradiction and, therefore, is the only guide in determining what we believe and how to live our lives.
GOD
We believe that GOD is “Triune”, One God in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
HUMANITY
We believe that humans are created in God’s image. That God created male and female (Gen.1:27) and marriage is between a man and a woman (Gen.2:24).
GOD’S LAW
We believe God has revealed His Holy Will for us in the Ten Commandments. We believe that the Law acts as a mirror to show us our sin, as a curb to keep us on the straight and narrow path, and as a guide to lead us in obeying God’s commands.
SIN
We believe that every thought, word and deed contrary to God’s Law is sin; that every human being inherits sin; and that all sin calls for God’s wrath. People cannot save themselves by their good works or restore themselves to a right relationship with God.
THE SAVIOR
We believe that because of God’s great love for us, He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the world from sin. Through the death of Jesus Christ, we have been given his perfect righteousness, which has declared us justified before God. Through His resurrection we also believe that as believers in Him we will be resurrected to eternal life in heaven.
JESUS’ RETURN
We believe that we are currently living in the Last Days of Earth. We believe that on the Last Day, Jesus will usher in a new heaven and a new earth where there will no longer be any crying, mourning, or pain because the old order of things will have passed away (Rev. 21:4). We believe that the dead will be raised and those who have died in the faith of Christ will enter into heaven in both body and soul.
FAITH
We believe that faith is a gift from God, not by human works, so that none may boast (Eph. 2:8). We believe that faith is created through hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17) and by being baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Gal. 3:26-27). It is only through this faith given by the Holy Spirit that we can believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and come to Him.
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit calls us to faith and gathers us together around the Word and Sacraments – Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper – to receive God’s continual gifts of forgiveness, strength and peace.
GRACE
We believe the means of grace are the Word, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. By these means, the merits of Jesus’ perfect life and atoning death are personally conveyed to all who believe in Jesus as their Savior.
LIFE
Missouri Synod Lutherans care deeply for the sanctity of all human life. We believe God’s Word opposes abortion, and that He would have us to reach out to those who have been affected, to share His compassion and healing touch.
MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
We believe that God gave marriage as a picture of the relationship between Christ and His bride the Church (Ephesians 5:32). We believe the term marriage only has one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, polyamorous relationships, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest and the use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15: 18-20; Romans 1:21-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
GENDER
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
RESTORATION
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3: 19-21; Romans 10: 9-10; 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11).
